Beta help

This genre is in beta for Pro members. The engine is new and may still change: after an update the same seed can give a different song. The full guide follows with the release.

Styles

The tabs at the top are the four styles of this genre. Each style has its own grammar: tempo, drums, bass, harmony and form differ, not only the sounds.

Forge and seeds

Forge makes a new song from a new seed. Lock the seed to keep the song while you change sounds. The share link (Takes menu) carries the full recipe: style, seed, hand choices and VARY counters.

VARY

The circular arrow next to a track re-draws only that part. Everything else stays note for note the same. A style only shows VARY where it has something to vary.

Neutral sound

Add ?neutral=1 to the address to hear every style with the same plain instruments. That is how you check that the styles differ in the music itself, not just in their sounds.

Lead instrument and sounds

The Lead Instrument tiles choose the voice of the melody. Every other part chooses its sound in its own card under Volumes. Auto means the style decides for each song. A new sound choice makes a new take of the song with the same seed.

Volumes, FX and Master

Each track card has a volume knob (drag up or down), a mute badge (tap to mute, tap again to restore) and, where the style has something to vary, Vary. Volume 0 means muted and not exported.

The FX card sets an echo on melody, chords and pad. The Master card colours the whole mix: tone, grit, sub and, where the style plays a pump, the sidechain pump. Auto always means the mix of the style itself. These settings change the sound, never the notes, and they are not part of the MIDI export.

Tempo, key and mode

Drag the tempo bar in the graph, use the arrows next to the key and tap the mode to step through the modes. Tap the tempo number or the key to go back to Auto. If a style keeps its own tempo, key or mode, the graph says so and your choice falls back to Auto.

Fusion

Fusion blends a partner genre into every style of this genre: Reggae and Metal today; Hip-Hop and Drum & Bass are coming as partners. Auto means the seed decides - here it never picks a fusion by itself yet, so every new song stays pure until you choose a partner. None keeps a song pure, also in a shared link.

Blend sets how far the partner takes over. Hint: Reggae adds skank chops on the offbeats and a cross-stick in the main parts; Metal adds palm-muted guitar chugs locked to the kick. Dialogue: the partner runs through the song, the breakdown becomes a one-drop dub section (Reggae) or a halftime metal breakdown (Metal), with dub echo throws or pick-up runs and a minor colour. Merged: adds the organ bubble and a riddim bassline (Reggae) or double-kick runs and a bass locked to the guitar (Metal) - except in styles whose bass is their signature.

The partner plays on its own track card (Skank or Guitar) with volume and mute, and it is part of the MIDI export as "Fusion ...". The beat of the style stays: four-on-the-floor in House, the two-step in Drum & Bass. The share link carries partner and blend.

Reset UI

Reset UI puts every control back to the style default. Seed and style stay.

Export

Export writes a multitrack MIDI file with a certificate; from Standard every track also comes as its own file in a ZIP.
